Although Jay Marmont has not had it all his way this year with an MX season he is keen to put behind him, the multiple Australian MX and SX champion is clocking very fast practise lap times in the lead up to the series opener this weekend.
Starting with a proven set-up for his number 1 plated KX450F from last year’s championship winning campaign, Marmont has been able to make small improvements to his race Kawasaki and is very happy with the set-up he has heading to Darwin. That combined with his high level of fitness and current SX track speed stands the champion in good stead.
Jay Marmont say’s “I feel really good heading into round one this weekend. My preparation has been spot on, the KX450F is where it should be and I’m very happy with my speed. The heat will be a factor in Darwin but everyone’s in the same boat. I’m confident I can come away with a strong result from round one.”
Unfortunately fellow 450 rider Adam Monea suffered a dislocated shoulder during mid week testing yesterday, ruling him out for at least the first round.
Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager Troy Carroll say’s, “We’re really excited to be back racing Supercross. Jay has been testing and training well and Supercross really is his forte so we’re looking for a great result. We’re all really disappointed that Adam can’t race in Darwin. He was injured during the teams final testing with him. We’ll know whether he’ll be able to race any rounds after some more scans next week.”
The opening round of the 2013 Australian Supercross Championship kicks off in Darwin, NT this weekend where Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jay Marmont will be racing to defend his title.
