MX1 team mate Adam Monea was forced to retire from each moto due to small mechanical issues while Kawasaki supported rider Jesse Dobson finished on the podium in the MXD class.
Jay Marmont’s trademark spirit and fight was once again on display at Swan Hill as the reigning Supercross champion rode well onboard his KX450F to finish just outside the top five with 6th place overall (8-7). Putting some difficult mid-season rounds behind him, multiple Australian champion Jay Marmont is returning to form just in time to defend his Australian Supercross title with the series beginning in a months time, following the final two rounds of the MX Nationals.
Jay Marmont is positive after the weekend, saying, “I had bad starts in both motos but I was able to come from the back and work forward which is a good change and another confidence booster. It’s good to be progressing forwards again. My training is paying off, I’m bulking up which I haven’t been able to do for a while and I’m feeling much stronger. We’ve made massive progress lately and I’m extremely positive heading into the final two rounds. I’m optimistic of a podium at our home race at Toowoomba and I’m looking forward to Supercross.”
Adam Monea had a heart breaking day at Swan Hill. Whilst sitting inside the top 5 in each moto he was forced to retire from each race with small mechanical issues. After a zero points haul from round 8, Monea still sits inside the top ten in the Championship in 9th place.
Adam Monea say’s, “I’m just disappointed. It was bad luck and I wish it didn’t turn out like it did but I can’t waste any energy thinking about it, I just have to move forward and focus on Toowoomba.”
Kawasaki’s supported rider Jesse Dobson showed immense speed at Swan Hill on board his KX250F in the MXD class. He recovered from last place after a first turn crash in moto 1 to take 8th place before going on to win moto 2. His 8-1 results were good enough for 3rd overall for the day.
Monster Energy Kawasaki is looking forward to racing in its home town of Toowoomba, QLD for the 9th round of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals on 25th August.
