Kawasaki flyer Meghan Rutledge has won two classes at the 2011 QLD Womens MX Championship at Coolum on 2-3 April.
15 year old Rutledge, who is based in Picton, NSW made the last minute decision to travel to Coolum to compete in a final meet as a Junior. The decision proved to be a wise one with Rutledge winning both the Junior Lites 2 Stroke and Junior Lites 4 Stroke classes.
Not only did Rutledge win the classes. She flat out annihilated the competition! Rutledge won all five races in both classes, and bagged the hole-shot in all ten races. Her pace was so blisteringly fast, she clocked faster lap times than the current Australian Female MX Champion in the Seniors class.
To add an already busy weekend, Rutledge also competed in the Junior 4 Stroke support class so she could race against males as well. Meg bagged two hole-shots from four races taking a 2nd place and three 3rds for 2nd overall.
A happy Meghan Rutledge says, “I’m really happy with how I raced at Coolum. My KX250F was awesome. Even when I dropped it in two of the races and was a quarter of a lap down, it still got me back to the front.”
“At the end of each day of racing I was still doing the same lap times as the start of the day so I’m really happy with my fitness but I must admit, I was tired by the end of racing on Sunday.”
Rutledge steps up to the Seniors class for the upcoming NSW State MX Titles at Clarence on Monday 25 April where she will ride both a Kawasaki KX250F and KX450F.
