In his last race for the 2010 season, Mackay Kawasaki flyer Luke Burgess has taken his Kawasaki Ninja 250R to the top step of the podium at the gruelling Townsville 200 Road Race Championship at Sun City Raceway.
With teams consisting of 2-4 riders, Burgess opted for only one partner, North Queensland’s Dave Howitt, in the gruelling 200 lap endurance race.
The two got down to business straight away. As the flag dropped Luke blasted to the front of the pack and set down some hot laps to establish an early lead. The two then put their game plan into action and it paid pidends. The Burgess/Howitt pairing on the Ninja 250R won the race by a whopping 10 laps.
Making the victory even sweeter, the team not only won their 250 Super Sport class, they also won the outright Championship against bigger capacity bikes contesting the 400cc modified class. Burgess also clocked the fastest lap time of the event.
Mackay Kawasaki Race Team Manager, Dale Burgess was ecstatic with the results saying, “We couldn’t have asked for a better finish to the season. There’s no way we could have done this without the support of Kawasaki Australia, Money Now, Big Boar Dyno Tuning, S&S Metal Polishers, Coburn Motor Trimmers, Tomsey Racing and the Kawasaki TSD Department.”
Luke Burgess and the Mackay Kawasaki Race Team will now take a well deserved break before starting preparations for the 2011 season.
