Luke Burgess has won numerous state and national dirt track and long track titles over many years of racing Kawasaki KX bikes. However the Mackay local has been absent from the discipline in recent time due to his focus on road racing where he won an Australian Championship last year (ASBK 250cc production class).
Burgess looked like he had never left racing up the front to claim 3 State Titles.
Burgess won the Under 19s and Pro Lites classes on board his KX250F took. He then raced his Kawasaki KX450F to top honours in the Pro Open class. Burgess also came away with 2nd place in the Pro 450 class.
Luke Burgess was pleased to get back to long track racing, saying, “My racing career started on dirt tracks and I won many titles so it’s awesome to return to something I love. It was tough competition but I expected nothing less and I’m really happy to be able to win 3 titles.”
“I couldn't win without the support of Kawasaki and Kawasaki Motors Finance and I thank them. My awesome race bikes combined with my many sponsors make my task so much easier and a whole lot of fun.”
Luke Burgess’s next racing assignment will be the 3rd round of the ASBK at QLD Raceway on 14-16 June where he will compete on board his Ninja ZX-6R in the 600 Supersport class. He will also race the first round of the 250cc Production class there where he will be out to defend his title.
