It was Luke’s first time on the his new race Ninja ZX-6 at The Island making the result even more remarkable. Burgess got his campaign off to a flying start putting down a fast lap time ensuring hinmself a Superpole position on his Ninja.
During the Super Pole session Luke had a rock enter the drive chain forcing him to pull out but not before putting down a quick lap to grab P5 on the Grid.
Race one was wet so Burgess took out the wet bike and came away with a credible 4th place finish.
Race 2 was on a drying track so Burgess opted for the dry bike and quickly took the lead in a 12 lap race where he and his OZ Wildcard team mate, Aiden Wagner, swapped places for the lead many times. Burgess crossed the finish line in second place securing him and his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 3rd place on the podium.
An excited Luke Burgess say's "I'm ecstatic about the way the Kawasaki Ninja performed. Working with SW Racing and OZ Wildcard Racing has played a huge part in my results. I'd really like to thank Richard Harding from Kawasaki Motors Finance and the team from Kawasaki Aust TSD Dept for the massive effort they have put in and also for having belief in me".
