Hosted at the St George Sailing Club in Sans Souci, the Newcastle Jet Ski Centre Jet Ski SX-R took a convincing win at the final round of the 2018 NSW AquaX Series.
Blessed with fine weather conditions, local racer Tom Aitken, who has competed in the lights class on a Kawasaki SXR-800 throughout the series, stepped up to try out the world’s fastest production stand up Jet Ski. In a class comprising of highly modified Pro-Ski units from past and present champions, the round made for some interesting racing and gave spectators an indication of where the Kawasaki sits in the premier Pro-Ski class of closed course racing.
Tom rode confidently with a holeshot in all 3 motos, taking a convincing 1-3-1 result and making it 1st overall for the day. Despite taking a swim in the second moto, Tom came from well behind to chase others down and cross the line in third place.
Newcastle Jet Ski Centre Team Manager, Mark Perlowski said, “We had three different riders throughout this series, with varying skill sets which really showed racers and the racing community the versatility and performance of the Jet Ski SX-R. The common denominator was the ski its self and along with the riders, I believe that the Jet Ski SX-R was the winner, both on the track and on the water socially.”
Perlowski allowed demo rides on the team’s race unit at the conclusion of the event, saying, “Many riders and racers took up the offer for a demo of the ski, with all surprised of the power and readability, reinforcing to them what the future holds.”
The next big PWC event in Australian waters will be the 2018 WSM Performance Parts AJSBA Australian Watercross Championships at Lions Park, Eleebana NSW on the June long weekend. Newcastle Jet Ski Centre can confirm that they have secured world number 1 Pro-Ski champion, Kevin Reiterer, to compete on the Kawasaki Jet Ski SX-R GP machine in the Pro Ski Modified class
“Having Kevin ride for us will bring an international flair to the event and I am sure that we will all be impressed with what the best rider in the world can do on a true GP class Kawasaki Jet Ski SX-R,” commented Mark.
