Following considerable testing to ensure that the highest operating standard is delivered, Mackay Kawasaki have so far modified and supplied a total of two Kawasaki MULE (Multi Utility Light Equipment) and three Kawasaki Teryx vehicles for use by the Queensland Police on the Gold Coast.
The MULE vehicles feature lights, UHF radio, suspension tuning and all other required accessories that will enable Gold Coast Police in their crime fighting efforts.
Head of Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol, Inspector Mick Stenner welcomed the addition of the Kawasaki MULE PRO-FXT EPS vehicles saying, “The capabilities of these vehicles allow them to go places where traditional vehicles just can’t go. These ATVs provide a good tactical addition to our patrol capabilities.”
“The MULE seats six officers which increases our ability to deploy more police where needed, the seats also fold back so we can carry various types of equipment. The versatility of these vehicles is a tremendous asset to police.” Inspector Stenner said.
The planned use of the vehicles includes general beach patrols, search and rescue, use during major events (I.e. Gold Coast 600 and Commonwealth Games) and more.
In addition to Kawasaki MULE and Teryx vehicles being used by Gold Coast Police, Kawasaki vehicles are also accredited by SAI Global and are used extensively by Surf Life Saving clubs across Australia due to their ability to meet operating standards and performance suitability in the surf life saving environment.
