Ex-Formula 1 driver Kimi Räikkönen has founded a Motocross team to challenge in both the MX1 and MX2 classes of the FIM MX World Championship
HOOFDDORP, February 08, 2011 - Next season the new ICE1RACING motocross team of Kimi Räikkönen will go after World Championship points. Kari Tiainen, the seven-time World Champion in Enduro, will be the team manager of the two young riders towards the Grand Prix title.
Two of the most succeeded motorsport athletes of Finland, Räikkönen and Tiainen, want to be part of promoting the Finnish talents to the top. The team, which bases in Spain for their training, starts the season on February 13th with an international competition and Grand Prix season on April 10th from Sevlieco, Bulgaria.
Kimi Räikkönen, who moved from F1 to WRC, expands his motorsport variation by founding a motocross team ICE1RACING to compete in MX1 and MX2 in the Grand Prix circus. Riders Toni Eriksson (MX1) and Ludde Söderberg (MX2) belong already to the top names in Finland despite their young age and are current Finnish Champions in their own series. The goal for these boys is clear. “We go to the Grand Prix to fight for the points and we want to get to the top, we are prepared to work for that”, clarifies Söderberg.
ICE1RACING team has also a junior team, which consists of six riders, who compete in their own series in Finnish Championship.
