The Empire Kawasaki Team finished the ProMX Championship with a bang at Queensland Moto Park (QMP), as Taylah McCutcheon claimed her maiden MXW Class Overall victory, with Luke Clout also claiming a season best 2nd Overall.
In MXW, Taylah McCutcheon took her KX250 to the top step of the podium for the first time in her professional racing career, posting 3-1 Moto scores to come out on top. Completing her comeback from a near career ending injury at the start of the season, the fairytale ending to the 2024 season was a huge statement for McCutcheon.
“This is very emotional for me and to think of where I started the season in the Hospital, not sure if I would ever ride again, it’s just incredible. I am so thankful for the Empire Kawasaki Team and everyone who supports my program, we did it and I am so excited for next season to see what we can achieve”, commented McCutcheon.
Luke Clout continued to push through adversity in the 2024 Championship and refused to give up, determined to capitalise on his speed and intensity before the Motocross season was over.
After claiming 2nd in SuperPole, Clout would establish great track position early in both MX1 Moto’s, logging consistent laps on his way to 2-3 Moto scores and 2nd Overall for the Final Round.
“It may have taken us some time to get back on the podium but it feels great to reward the Team and myself for all of our hard work this season”, said Clout.
“I have no doubt that the podium is where I still belong and now we have a fantastic base for Motocross next year with the KX450. I’m excited to keep this momentum rolling into Supercross”, concluded Clout.
Unfortunately after riding practice and qualifying in MX2, Reid Taylor after consulting with the Team decided to sit out the Moto’s as he continues to recover from a virus affecting his energy levels.
Team owner of Empire Kawasaki Tyson Cherry, commented on the 2024 ProMX Championship conclusion.
“2024 has been a year of huge growth for our Team program and our relationship with Kawasaki Australia. Seeing Taylah and Luke land on the podium after the ups and downs of racing this season is a fantastic pay off for everyone’s dedication and it puts us in a great position to push forward into the Australian Supercross Championship”.
The Empire Kawasaki Team now shifts their focus to the Australian Supercross Championship, where the gate will drop on Saturday 12th October at the Kayo Stadium in Brisbane.
