MODEL RELEASE: 2023 KAWASAKI NINJA ZX-10R RETURNS WITH POWERHOUSE CLASS-LEADING SPORTSBIKE PERFORMANCE
The Ninja ZX-10R carries the superbike halo for the Kawasaki brand for good reason: it’s been a multiple award-winning and World Superbike Championship-winning machine since it was first released in 2004.
The 2023 version of the Ninja ZX-10R, is now on sale locally in two new liveries. The 2023 model carries the same performance-pushing DNA as the very first model but is now more potent than ever thanks to a meticulous program of refinements and updates.
The 998cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine with close-ratio-gearbox has been a mainstay of the Ninja ZX-10R since its inception, and now produces 149.3kW (203hp) of power at 13,200rpm and 114.9Nm of torque at 11,400rpm – the type of withering performance which has seen the Ninja ZX-10R win seven of the last nine World Superbike Championship titles, including a phenomenal six in a row from factory gun Jonathan Rea from 2015-2020.
Kawasaki Racing Team rider, Jonathan Rea, remains in the hunt for the 2023 World Superbike title, with the championship set to go down to the wire at Victoria’s Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit from November 18-20, 2022.
State-of-the-art machining technology is used in the design of the intake ports on the Ninja ZX-10R to promote smoother flow and a greater volume of fuel-air mixture, while other key engine features include an electronic throttle, slipper clutch, finger-follower valve actuation for a higher rev limit and more aggressive cam profiles, titanium valves and an air-cooled oil cooler. The performance, cooling and emissions measures are all the mainstays of the Ninja ZX-10R’s Euro 5 compliance.
The Ninja ZX-10R is supported by a sophisticated IMU-enhanced electronics package with traction control, an Ohlins steering damper, cornering ABS, launch control and a bi-directional quick-shifter. Integrated riding modes and electronic cruise control are just the ticket for road riding, as well as the full-colour TFT instrument screen with smartphone connectivity.
Performance winglets are now vital parts of the styling package, incorporating downforce and aerodynamic properties. A steeper windshield adds an extra aerodynamic element, ideal for both the road and track.
The twin-spar aluminium frame, sharp geometry, high-grade fully adjustable Showa suspension and lightweight three-spoke wheels help to deliver superb stability, handling, and millimetre-precision cornering, with stopping expertise the best in the business thanks to Brembo M50 monobloc four-piston calipers.
Accessories include heated grips, a solo seat, engine guards, a frame slider set, scratch-resistant film for the TFT screen and bike covers.
The 2023 Ninja ZX-10R is available in two new striking liveries – Lime Green/Ebony and Pearl Robotic White/Metallic Diablo Black – retailing at a manufacturer’s recommended retail price of $26,740 plus on-road costs.
