To cement the title, Jonathan only requires a top ten finish in the opening World Superbike race of the Spanish Round this weekend.
Jonathan Rea has dominated the series this year on his Ninja ZX-10R with 20 podium finishes and 12 race wins from 20 races. He has already become the first rider in WSBK history to have clinched 20 top three finishes in as many races from the start of a season.
The only way that second place holder, Davies (144 points behind Rea), can potentially claim the title, is if Rea fails to score in each remaining race. Furthermore, Davies will need to takes out five of the six outstanding races and finish at least second in the other.
The battle for overall runner-up is a little more complex. Team Mate, Tom Sykes (who has finished in the WSBK Championship top two in the last three years), currently sits in third place on the leaderboard, only 13 points behind Davis.
The first race of round 11 will take place this Sunday morning after practice at Circuito de Jerez today and qualifying on Saturday.
