Already winner of the most world famous endurance PWC race last year, the French overall champion Jean Bruno Pastorello has won the 2012 edition of the Havasu race once more. Teamed up with Belgian rider Sylvain Ente, he took the Kawasaki ULTRA 300X to victory.
France’s Jean Bruno Pastorello did something no one else has been able to do in the entire existence of the race event: he teamed up with Belgium’s Sylvain Ente, to win the 8th annual Mark Hahn Memorial 300 endurance race, on Lake Havasu, Saturday. They finished the 30-lap race in a time of 4 hours, 17 minutes 35.270 seconds to finish first overall and win the Pro Am 4 Stroke Class.
“It takes a team to win,” said Pastorello “And I will certainly be returning next year to make it a third.”
For the second year in a row, Lake Havasu City’s Nicolas Rius was quick off the line and able to lead the first lap, being followed closely by Craig Warner. Warner was able to take the lead from Rius half way into the second lap, and hold that lead until lap five, when Rius was able to gain some ground and pass him at lap six. The battle continued until lap nine, when Rius started to experience mechanical issues and Warner was able to pass him and hold onto that lead until lap 20, when the Pastorello's team passed him. From this point, no other team could compete with the impressively performing French team.
A total of 52 teams from nine nations participated in the race, said Race Director Ross Wallach. “The event was fantastic, the weather fantastic. We couldn’t have hoped for anything more,” he said.
